Florinese Mawidge Soup
We’ll start the afternoon with a soup known in Italy for bringing people together — a “mawidge.” Meatball wedding soup.
Not a Lot of Money in Revenge Beggar’s Purses
Inigo tells the Man in Black about how he’s spent years searching for the six-fingered man who murdered his father. Not a lucrative way to pay his bills. These tasty bacon and goat cheese morsels are often called “beggar’s purses,” similar to a coin purse.
Arancini a la Vizzini
During The Battle of Wits, Vizzini admonishes Westly for falling for one of two classic blunders: going against a Sicilian when death is on the line and never get involved in a land war in Asia. Ariancini is a classic Sicilian appetizer of fried balls of creamy risotto and twists to incorporate both of the classic blunders.
“Battle of Wits”
Brie and Apple Crostini
When the Man in Black approaches Vizzini holding Buttercup hostage, Vizzini has set up a nice little spread with some apples, crusty bread, and a hunk of white-rinded cheese. This dish can be considered an alternative ending to the Battle of Wits.
The Machine’s Excruciating Tortiére
Westley is taken to the Pit of Despair and subjected to torturous experiments at the six-fingered hands of Count Rugen, who has invented a torture contraption called The Machine. This rich pork and beef pie might just knock a year or two off of your life, but unlike The Machine, it will be an enjoyable experience.
“Are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet, or his enemy’s?”
An Inconceivable Tea Pairing (to be announced)
Wine and Beer
Lightning Sand Parfait
Lightning sand is the second of the three terrors which Westley and Buttercup encounter in the Fire Swamp. Our Lightning Sand Parfait is a nod to that scene.
Twu Wuv Twuffles
True love is at the heart of The Princess Bride, quite memorably by the Impressive Clergyman officiating Buttercup and Humperdink’s wedding. Raspberry and rose cake pops are a perfect romantic gesture.
Guests will receive a free The Princess Bride poster.
